Mustek DV520T AVI Files Require XviD Codec

Just a brief note for those of you who may have purchased a Mustek DV520T mini-camcorder and have found that you can't see any video on the standard video players (such as Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, ...) or bring your videos into Windows MovieMaker or similar software.
The DV520T uses the XviD codec. Go to www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ and download the XviD codec for your system (Windows or Mac OS). Once the software is installed, you should be able to view (and edit) the videos you captured using your Mustek DV520T.

Hi Vickie. The way I can get the videos or pictures out of the camera is to take the memory chip out of the camera and put it into a computer slot that can handle that kind of memory device.
I did try connecting the USB cable, but my computer didn’t seem to recognize the device.

I use Vista64.

Hi Dan. I have not tried this using Vista. But I think there must be something more than the XviD codec that’s needed. Apparently, it’s already on my XP computers, so once I put on the codec, I was able to see my movies. Unfortunately, I have no idea what this additional component or library might be. Perhaps searching for AVI format information and Vista might turn up something that would help you.
